About the Role
If you enjoy providing great service and working in a team, we have just the opportunity for you at our Cannock Vets for Pets practice to join our team on a 6 month fixed term contract with the potential to develop into a permanent role. Our reception team always place clients and their patients first delivering excellent client care and being a supportive ear in their times of need. Cannock is a fast-paced practice with five veterinary surgeons, a team of RVN's and SVN and a practice manager. We have visiting surgeons who allow the clinic to offer referral level investigations and surgeries to take place at the practice reducing the need for our clients to travel to referral centres. As a progressive practice we are currently planning an extension to increase our practice by a further three consult rooms, a hydrotherapy unit and colleague room. Building work is planned to start early 2027.
What Your Typical Day Will Look Like
On a daily basis you will be handling calls booking appointments, procedures and investigations, advising on preventative care plans and cash handling. As you grow your skills you will learn about pet insurance, review debt reports and calling clients to advise on boosters and care plan products. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for providing great client care who thrives in a busy environment.
Your great client service during a client’s visit will make sure that their absolute satisfaction is given, and that the client leaves knowing that they have received exceptional service and look forward to their next visit. You will greet each client and offer support, guidance, and expertise, managing payments and future bookings confidently. Coordinating the smooth running of the day-to-day routines of the practice will be done using our online booking system, so computer literacy is a must.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
