About Blaise Veterinary Referral Centre

Blaise Veterinary Referral Centre is one of the UK’s largest purpose-built, multidisciplinary referral hospitals, located in Longbridge, Birmingham. As the first IVC Evidensia referral hospital built from the ground up, Blaise has been designed with collaboration, sustainability, and clinical excellence at its core. Spanning over 36,000 sq ft, the hospital has the capacity to treat up to 10,000 pets per year and provides specialist-led, multi-disciplinary referral services alongside a 24-hour emergency care provision.

Key features include:

  • Large-scale, purpose-built referral hospital with a collaborative, open-plan design
  • Multidisciplinary team across ECC, Surgery, Imaging, Internal Medicine and more
  • Established anaesthesia team including two ECVAA Diplomates
  • State-of-the-art anaesthesia equipment including:Mindray WATO EX-35 workstations, Mindray TE5 Vet ultrasound, Central monitoring systems
  • Part of IVC Evidensia’s extensive UK & Ireland referral network (100+ sites)

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Referral Veterinary Clinician in Anaesthesia, you will play a central role in supporting a wide range of complex cases within a busy multidisciplinary referral hospital. You’ll work closely with clinicians across multiple disciplines to deliver safe, high-quality anaesthesia and analgesia, contributing to excellent patient outcomes and a positive client experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high standards of anaesthesia and perioperative care across a varied referral caseload
  • Working collaboratively with Surgery, ECC, Imaging, Internal Medicine and other services
  • Supporting the development of anaesthesia protocols and clinical standards
  • Providing guidance and support to colleagues within the wider clinical team
  • Contributing to a collaborative, open, and supportive team culture
  • Playing an active role in clinical governance and continuous improvement

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

We’re looking for a clinician with a strong interest in veterinary anaesthesia and a passion for delivering high-quality care within a referral environment.

You’ll bring:

  • MRCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Diplomate (ECVAA/ACVAA) or residency-trained in Veterinary Anaesthesia
  • Experience working within a referral or advanced clinical setting
  • Confidence managing anaesthesia for a range of complex procedures, with support from an experienced team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital
  • A commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous development This role offers the opportunity to further develop your expertise within a well-supported anaesthesia team, working alongside experienced specialists in a modern referral setting.

Working Pattern

  • Permanent position
  • Part-time: Monday to Wednesday (10-hour days, 30 hours per week)
