Portsmouth Vets for Pets is an independently owned, veterinary-led practice within the Vets for Pets Group. The practice has been owned and run by experienced GP veterinary surgeon Justyn Loveridge since 2012, proudly serving its local community with clinical standards and working culture determined in-house
This role is designed for someone with 2-4 years’ experience who wants to practise good medicine, develop strong clinical judgement, and work in an environment that values thoughtful decision-making rather than simple throughput.
“I want this to be a place where vets become confident clinicians, feel comfortable discussing cases, have support when they need it, the freedom to develop their own judgement, and enjoy coming to work.” Justyn Loveridge, Practice Owner
What makes this role different?
15-minute consultations as standard An open-door culture for case discussion and clinical support Continuity of care so you can follow cases through Genuine clinical autonomy with support when needed No out-of-hours commitments No expectation to take on management responsibilities unless you want to
You will be supported to develop confidence and judgement in practice. The aim is not to micromanage decisions, but to help you grow into a calm, capable clinician who enjoys managing cases and building relationships with clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
