Are you looking to join an outstanding Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Service Clinic where you can expand your knowledge while being supported by an experienced team.

You will join a well-established hospital that was opened in 2002 and has since evolved into a centre of excellence.

By joining the practice, you will have access to market leading advanced medical technology including a CT scanner, rigid and flexible endoscopes and ultrasound machines.

You can expand your knowledge by being involved with some of the fantastic services we provide including – neurosurgery, stem cell therapy, endoscopy, routine work and much more.

You will be supported by an experienced clinical team of 15 vets (including our own OOH team).

About Us:

Barnsley Vets for Pets Hospital is an RCVS recognised outstanding Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic, that is owned and run locally providing comprehensive 24/7 care to the wider local community and their pets with a dedicated on-site team.

Established in 2002, our facility has evolved into a centre of excellence, equipped with advanced medical technologies, including a CT scanner, rigid and flexible endoscopes, and ultrasound machines. We offer a broad spectrum of services such as neurosurgery, orthopaedics, minimally invasive surgery, stem cell therapy, chemotherapy, alongside our first-opinion practice. Our commitment to exceptional service is reflected in our five outstanding RCVS awards.

Our team comprises 15 Veterinary Surgeons (including our own out-of-hours team), 24 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), 3 Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), 5 Animal Care Assistants (ACAs) and a proficient non-clinical support team. We are united by a passion for delivering the highest standards of care, managing both general and referral cases within the same hospital to ensure seamless, end-to-end patient care.


The Role:

As a team we know that everyone is at different stages of their veterinary career and because of this we are open to speak to all qualified veterinary surgeons who have a passion about providing the best standards of care to their patients.

So, if you are an experienced veterinary surgeon looking for a team to support them through their certificate or a new graduate looking for the support in their first role please do get in touch!

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be confident in handling routine surgical and medical cases.
  • Possess a keen interest in managing a diverse caseload with the ability to work cases up to a high standard.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent service and collaborating effectively within a highly skilled team.

Working Hours:

We are open to discuss a rota that will suit you and we are open to consider both full time and part time roles.

It is essential though that all our vets join the weekend rota and this can be on a 1 in 2 (full time) basis or a 1 in 4 basis (part time).
