Veterinary Surgeon – Maternity Cover
Clifton, Nottingham
We are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team, on a fixed term maternity cover contract.
We are a well-established, independent veterinary practice in the heart of Clifton (Nottingham), dedicated to providing exceptional care to pets and outstanding service to their owners.

Here at Clifton Vets for Pets, our ethos is about enjoying your job whilst delivering a high standard of care. You spend too long at work not to enjoy it. If you are looking to be part of a happy practice that get along well and enjoy team outings, we could be the surgery for you.
We see several big cases each day, which form our varied and in-depth caseload. These are our main clients, and allocated time is given each day to follow up with them, report results, attend to inpatients and carry out investigative work. We see a small number of routine ops and run 15-minute consults.
You would be joining our fantastic, friendly and welcoming team to make 3 Vets, 5 Nurses, Reception team and Practice Manager. Our Practice Owner is 24 years qualified so a fountain of knowledge both medically and surgically.
In practice we have state of the art equipment, including digital standard and dental x-ray, ultrasound, ECG, ultrasonic dental, blood pressure monitoring, suction, cautery, class 4 laser therapy, and infusion pumps. Full in-house lab with purpose built air-conditioned premises. We have 15-minute consults with administration time built-in to the schedule.

We are a friendly team with a close-knit feel and participate in regular team social events. We also provide regular drink and snacks to our staff.
Clifton, located in the southern part of Nottingham, is a vibrant and well-established residential area known for its strong community spirit. Clifton is well-connected to Nottingham city centre via the tram network and buses, we are close to the M1, A50 and M42 as well as directly adjacent to a bus and tram stop.
What We Are Looking For
- A qualified Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration
- Ideally you will have at least 3-4 years’ experience working in small animal practice and are confident to do both consult and surgery
- You will be confident in small animal routine surgeries and appointments. You could have a surgical bias – we are open to consideration of your expertise
- We are happy to consider both full and part time applicants, and are flexible to support you
- Working hours would be from 8:30am-6pm (but we pay you till 6:30pm!), ideally working 3 or 4 days per week
- We need somebody that can work 1:3 Saturday mornings (8:30am-12pm)
- No OOHs and no bank holidays
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for animal welfare and high-quality patient care
- Team player attitude with the ability to work independently
