Veterinary Surgeon
Location: Matt Smith Vets, Clay Cross, Chesterfield
Contract: Part-time (15–20 hours per week)
Matt Smith’s Vets is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our close-knit team in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the Role
At CVS, our mission is simple: to enable our veterinary professionals to deliver outstanding care to both patients and clients. We provide complete operational support—from dedicated HR, payroll, and facility enhancements—so you can focus solely on clinical excellence.
This part-time role offers a 2-day working week with no out-of-hours or on-call duties, ensuring an excellent work-life balance. We support small animal veterinary surgeons of all levels, whether you’re developing expertise or seeking mentorship.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality veterinary care in a community-focused practice.
- Collaborating with nursing teams to provide comprehensive patient treatment.
- Enjoying modern facilities—including two console rooms, a dedicated nurse consult room, a fully equipped dental suite, and an operating room.
Beyond the Clay Cross practice, the role may include occasional cover for surrounding local clinics.

About You
We are looking for a dedicated, client-focused Veterinary Surgeon who is:
- Passionate about delivering exceptional animal care and building lasting client relationships.
- Confident in clinical skills, capable of handling diagnostic investigations and case management.
- Committed to self-improvement, eager to develop expertise across a range of veterinary specialisms.
- A natural mentor, supporting and inspiring colleagues to grow.
- Skilled in client communication, providing reassurance and fostering trust.
- Providing guidance to vetting teams and contributing to clinical standards.
