Our Client’s practice is a well-established small animal surgery based in Essex is looking to hire for a Veterinary Surgeon with the chance to progress into a Senior Vet or Clinical Lead position within a supportive and collaborative team.

Working Hours / Rota
The practice is ideally looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to work three or four days per week, with shifts running from 9am to 7pm. The weekend rota is shared on a 1:4 basis. There are no out-of-hours duties and only minimal bank holiday requirements, helping to provide a sustainable balance alongside the clinical responsibilities of the role.
Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a broad and engaging first opinion caseload, including consultations, diagnostics, inpatient care and a mixture of routine and emergency surgical procedures. Clinical freedom is strongly encouraged, allowing vets to investigate and manage cases to a high standard while developing their individual interests.

The practice would particularly welcome applications from Veterinary Surgeons interested in Senior Vet or Clinical Lead responsibilities. Previous leadership experience would be beneficial, although strong support can also be provided to experienced clinicians looking to take the next step in their career.
Team Size
The team currently consists of three Veterinary Surgeons, including a New Graduate Vet, alongside four Nurses, one Student Nurse, two Veterinary Care Assistants, four Receptionists and a dedicated Practice Manager.
The practice also works closely with a visiting certificate holder in small animal surgery and orthopaedics, enabling more advanced procedures to be carried out in-house and providing further opportunities for clinical development.
Practice Details
The practice is equipped to support a wide range of first opinion medical and surgical cases and benefits from strong clinical links with a nearby sister branch. The team sees a varied caseload across dogs, cats, small furries and exotic pets, providing plenty of clinical variety for a Vet who enjoys working across a broad range of species and conditions.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least three to four years of UK small animal experience and that is confident managing consultations, routine surgical procedures and medical case workups, while enjoying collaborative working within a supportive clinical team.
The practice would be especially interested in speaking with Veterinary Surgeons who have previous leadership experience or ambitions to progress into a Senior Vet or Clinical Lead role. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional patient and client care will be essential.
