Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal

Location: North East Scotland
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 3 - 4 days per week
Weekends: 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
OOH: None

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy, well-established independent practice.

This role offers a varied caseload within a practice that has a strong reputation and exceptionally high demand, including a waiting list for new clients.

The position is part of a larger mixed practice, with approximately a 50/50 split between small and large animal work, although this role is focused on small animal care.

  • 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses
  • Dedicated support and reception teams

The practice operates across two well-equipped sites, offering a full range of services and a strong, loyal client base.

Facilities include:

  • Digital radiography
  • Ultrasonography
  • Endoscopy
  • In-house laboratory (same-day diagnostics)
  • Dedicated surgical theatre with modern anaesthetic monitoring
  • Dental suite
  • Separate dog and cat wards with excellent hospitalization facilities
  • Advanced diagnostics including cytology and imaging

The practice also offers a full emergency service, supported by a dedicated team.

Working Pattern

  • 3–4 days per week
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
  • No on-call requirement

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Confident in general small animal practice
  • A team player who enjoys working in a busy environment
  • Keen to deliver high standards of patient care
  • Interest in developing clinical skills and case work-up
