About Us
If you are an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for somewhere that you want to feel appreciated and part of a team or you are wanting to regain your passion for the career you spent so long training for or just looking for a modern forward-thinking practice, then Nottingham Chilwell are your match! We are expanding our team and looking for a veterinary surgeon with a minimum 18 months experience who is confident with routine surgeries and consults.
We are a gold ISFM practice and a silver RWAF practice, we were awarded an ACE award (Aspiring clinical excellence) from Vets for Pets also. We have exotic certificate holders and see a varied case load. We also dip our toe into a bit of acupuncture, and we are a fear free practice.
We are equipped with an in-house lab, endoscopy for lap spays, and a surgical laser for advanced patient care.
We look after our staff and genuinely care; staff wellbeing is our thing. We had a personal trainer last year for the whole team which was great fun! We are always looking for novel ways to support our staff wellbeing and create a relaxed atmosphere, so ideas are always welcomed.
The team consists of 3 vets, 5 qualified RVNs, 2 Veterinary Care Assistants and Practice Manager/Practice Owner.
Our location is great; we are 20 minutes away from Nottingham and Derby city centre and close enough to enjoy the outdoors of the peak district. Attenborough nature reserve is on our doorstep and there is also lots of retail therapy. Rail and Air travel is also close by.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
