Veterinary Surgeon - Farm
Kernow Veterinary Group | Bodmin Salary up to £65,000 DOE and relocation allowance up to £2,000
At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
Kernow Vets are seeking a confident Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, supportive team. We work closely with the local farming community, delivering practical, sustainable care that supports livestock health and the long-term success of our clients’ businesses, where strong relationships matter as much as clinical skill.
The role offers a varied caseload including TB testing, routine and preventative work, herd health planning, emergency care, dispensary tasks and regular client contact, with artificial insemination (mainly cattle) also included. You’ll work with a diverse client base, from smallholdings to larger beef, sheep and mixed farms.
This is primarily an ambulatory position, so a full driving licence is required. You’ll be fully equipped with a vehicle, mobile and laptop, with access to practice facilities when needed. The role includes sole charge and participation in the on-call rota, managing both planned and emergency work. A TB testing qualification is essential.
You’ll be part of an experienced farm team of vets, supported by a dedicated TB testing team, ACA, vet tech and client care colleagues, all working collaboratively in an open, supportive environment where work-life balance is respected and time off in lieu helps keep workloads fair.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
