Compensation: £41,080 - £55,640 / year

Description

£2,500 welcome incentive, visa sponsorship available, excellent work life balance

Contract:

  • Permanent full-time contract (40 hours over 5 days), however part time and zero hours contracts would be considered
  • Salary: £41,080 - £55,640 per annum (based on full-time hours)
  • Location: Grimsby, DN32 7SH

We believe veterinary care should reach those who need it most, regardless of circumstance. As a Veterinary Surgeon with Blue Cross, you will not only practise medicine; you will make a meaningful difference to vulnerable animals and the communities who rely on us.

We offer a one-off £2,500 recruitment and retention allowance for Veterinary Surgeons joining our Grimsby animal hospital. This includes £1,250 paid in your first monthly salary and £1,250 upon successful completion of probation.

If you need visa sponsorship to work in the UK, we actively encourage you to apply. We are able to explore sponsorship for the right candidate, although we do not offer a relocation package.

We are recruiting on a rolling basis and will invite shortlisted candidates to interview as applications are received, so early application is encouraged.

More about the role

As a Veterinary Surgeon at Blue Cross, you will be exposed to a wide variety of medical, surgical and emergency cases. This enables you to build clinical confidence quickly while working within a supportive and collaborative environment.

You will work with our award-winning clinical guidelines, designed to support pragmatic, evidence-based decision making where patient welfare is always the priority. We maintain high clinical standards while encouraging a culture where learning is shared openly in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

The shift pattern is predominantly Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, supporting a strong work life balance. You will also take part in the evening and weekend rota, which typically includes:

  • approximately one evening per week for emergency calls and inpatient care only
  • one weekend every six weeks, with time off in lieu provided

About the hospital

Our Grimsby hospital offers a high-quality clinical environment that goes beyond what is typically available in first opinion practice. Facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy within a purpose-built setting.

You will be working alongside an experienced and supportive team who are committed to sharing knowledge and helping you develop your clinical skills.

About you

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Demonstrable small animal or mixed practice experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
