Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

Salary

Up to £70,000 DOE plus Relocation Allowance up to £5,000

About the Role

If you're looking for a genuinely varied mixed role where no two days are the same, Robson & Prescott Vets could be exactly what you're looking for.

Based in the heart of beautiful Northumberland, we're a well-established mixed practice with a team of 27 veterinary surgeons providing exceptional care across small animal, farm, equine, exotics, and export work. Whether you're treating companion animals in our purpose-built hospital, carrying out farm visits, or working with horses across the local community, you'll enjoy the diversity and continuity that only mixed practice can offer.

We're looking for an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our supportive team. This role offers an excellent balance of small animal, farm, equine, and export work, allowing you to make full use of your mixed skillset while continuing to develop your interests. An OV qualification would be welcomed but isn't essential, as we're happy to provide training and support.

Working Conditions

  • Working full-time, you'll enjoy a 40-hour week across four days, with a set day off each week to help maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • As part of our commitment to continuity of care, you'll also take part in our own in-house out-of-hours rota.

Why Join Robson & Prescott?

  • Truly mixed caseload across small animal, farm, equine, and export work
  • Large, experienced team of 27 vets offering excellent collaboration and support
  • Purpose-built veterinary hospital with four theatres and modern diagnostic equipment
  • Eight branch surgeries serving communities across Northumberland
  • Dedicated in-house out-of-hours service, allowing excellent case continuity
  • Certificate holders across multiple disciplines with opportunities for mentoring and case discussion
  • Modern facilities including dental suite, endoscopy, ultrasound, ECG, and hydrotherapy
  • Separate wards for dogs, cats, exotics, and small mammals
  • CPD actively encouraged with support to develop your own areas of interest

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
