Veterinary Surgeon Opportunity in Cardiff Ely

About Us

We are a stand-alone, small animal practice locally owned and led by Hannah BSc MRCVS who qualified in 2012 and has been worked in Cardiff for over 10 years, establishing the practice as the go-to practice in the heart of the community.

As an independently owned practice within the Vets for Pets network, we pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of patient care while fostering a friendly, supportive and collaborative working environment and whilst also benefiting from the wider network of practice owners and colleagues and support of the Vet for Pets family.

Our Team

You'll be joining a welcoming and experienced team consisting of:

  • 2 Veterinary Surgeons
  • 6 Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses
  • 1 Student Veterinary Nurse
  • Dedicated Reception Team

We work collaboratively and enjoy supporting one another, creating an environment where everyone can continue to grow. We even had one nurse return, and our EMS placements always comment on how bonded and welcoming we are!

The Role

This is a part-time position working 24-32 hours per week, with some flexibility.

Practice opening hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 6:30pm
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays (9:00am – 1:00pm)
  • No out-of-hours

Our caseload is varied and rewarding and our days are organised well with 15-minute consults as standard, with more time given as required and breaks and a protected lunch break also factored into the day.

The role involves both surgery and consults although a consults only role would also be considered for the right candidate.

About You

We are looking for an experienced vet who feels confident with routine surgical and medical cases and who enjoys building strong relationships with patients, clients and the wider team.

Your Skills And Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in a UK small animal practice or hospital
  • Confidence with both consultations and routine surgery
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to work independently when required while also thriving within a supportive team
  • A genuine commitment to continuing professional development
