Paying up to £65,000 (FTE, DOE)

Vets for Pets Middlesbrough Cleveland Park are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and experienced team, providing an excellent opportunity for personal development as our practice grows.

When we (JVPs and Veterinary Surgeons Sophie and Andy) opened, it was important to us to create a positive learning culture with a family feel where everyone in the team felt they could rely on each other. Having grown both our client base and team, all of us continue to work hard to maintain this culture, provide a high standard of clinical care, and create a workplace where everyone can look forward to going to work and feel valued whilst there.

The opportunity to develop our own clinical interests at our own pace was also important so we could cultivate an ethos of continued development for the whole team. Due to growth, we are now looking for another veterinary surgeon to join us as we continue to develop.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We already have strong interests in exotics, soft tissue surgery, and ophthalmology within the team, and our busy and varied caseload will allow you to continue to build on this or follow your own clinical bias whilst gaining excellent experience from our very varied case load. We will also provide a generous CPD allowance to support you in this as well.

Our diary is arranged so that our vets have the time they need for reporting results, writing notes, and to work up cases to the highest standard possible. We hold regular team meetings and 1-to-1s which gives all our colleagues the chance to have their say when it comes to practice protocols and their own progression.

We are lucky to have an experienced nursing and non-clinical team, and you will be supported by 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, Practice manager, and friendly reception team. As well as providing an excellent standard of care to our patients, we pride ourselves on our friendly practice atmosphere.

This position would suit a vet with a few years of experience, happy with routine consults and surgeries, looking to progress a specific clinical interest or develop into a more senior role as our team continues to grow. We would love to find someone looking to work on a full-time basis, although we would consider part-time hours for the right candidate. Occasional sole charge is required, and Saturdays are shared on a rota basis which will be discussed at interview. If you work a Saturday, you will get the next weekend as a long weekend off and we are closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
