Veterinary Surgeon – Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire
Up to £60,000 (Dependent on experience) | 40 Hours | No OOH | Certificate Support Encouraged
We’re excited to be recruiting a Veterinary Surgeon to join our established, friendly team at Sutton-in-Ashfield Vets4Pets. We are a thriving, forward-thinking practice with a strong clinical focus and a fantastic team culture.
Conveniently located close to Junction 28 of the M1 with excellent public transport links, our practice offers easy commuting while being close to the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside.

You’ll be working alongside passionate and experienced practice owners:
- Stephanie Cochrane, who graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2011 and holds a certificate in Exotic Animal Practice.
- Faye Padley, a Registered Veterinary Nurse who qualified in 2016 and became Joint Practice Owner in 2019 after progressing through Vets4Pets. Together, they’ve built a collaborative, supportive, and progressive practice since opening in 2014.
You’ll join:
- 4 Vets
- 7 RVNs
- 4 Client Care Advisors
- A dedicated Practice Manager
We’re also a proud teaching practice, regularly supporting SVNs and vet students, so if you enjoy mentoring or working in a learning-focused environment, you’ll feel right at home.
Facilities & Clinical Support
We’re equipped to help you deliver excellent care with confidence:
- Full in-house laboratory suite
- Digital radiography and advanced ultrasound machine with cardiac probe
- ECG
- Tonopen
- Separate Dog, Cat and Exotic wards
You’ll have exposure to a varied caseload and access to strong clinical support for non-routine procedures. Sole charge is minimal, but we’re looking for someone confident with routine surgeries and consultations.

We are an RCVS accredited practice, a ISFM Silver Cat Friendly accredited practice, and a RWAF Silver plus rabbit friendly vet practice.
The Role
Ideally looking for full time vet to work 35-40 hours per week over 4 days
- 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am–5pm)
- No out-of-hours
- A fixed regular day off each week
- Minimal sole charge

You’re a Veterinary Surgeon who:
- Is confident in routine surgery and consultations
- Enjoys working up interesting cases
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive team with other vets and nurses

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for animal welfare and high-quality patient care
- Team player attitude with the ability to work independently
- Confident in a first-opinion setting and motivated to work in a progressive, fast-paced practice with strong clinical standards
