Veterinary Surgeon – Beech House Veterinary Centre, Southampton

£0 - £65,000 per year (up to £65,000 DOE) + relocation allowance (up to £5,000)

About the Role & Practice

Beech House Vets, part of the IVC Evidensia network, seeks a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a vet passionate about building long-term client relationships and taking ownership of cases—enhanced by Vets Now providing out-of-hours coverage. You’ll enjoy:

  • Exceptional case continuity – Follow each case from presentation to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery
  • Dedicated surgery days alongside medical investigations and consultations
  • Clinical freedom & resources – Work deeply on cases while delivering exceptional patient care

The Caseload: Variety & Opportunity

Your role will be rewarding and diverse, with a mix to keep every day interesting:

  • Daily first-opinion care, preventative healthcare, and routine procedures
  • Advanced surgical casework, including:
    • TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) procedures
    • Cruciate ligament repairs
    • Maxillectomies
    • Emergency & critical care
  • Opportunities to develop surgical & clinical expertise

  • Piped Isoflurane anaesthesia for precision
  • Digital radiography & ultrasound
  • ECG with both in-house and external interpretation
  • K-Laser therapy for pain management
  • Air-driven dental suite for premium dentistry
  • Fully equipped laboratory with:
    • Comprehensive biochemistry & haematology testing
    • Plans to expand orthopaedic equipment for future surgical advancements

Team & Growth Culture

This is an environment for skilled collaboration on a close-knit team of:

  • 6 Veterinary Surgeons + 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses
  • 2 Student Veterinary Nurses
  • 2 Veterinary Team Coaches (with expertise across numerous specialties)

Our Lead Vet holds certificates in Small Animal Surgery, and we’re committed to professional development. Support is available (or encouraged) for pursuing additional certifications, particularly in:

  • Cardiology
  • Ophthalmology (other specialties welcome too!)

Work-Life Balance

  • 4-day working week (except for occasional Saturday mornings: 8:30 AM – 12 PM, on a 1 in 4 rotation)
    • Saturday mornings are sole-charge shifts, offering autonomy
  • No out-of-hours or on-call requirements
  • Part-time options considered (from 20 hours per week)
