Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal

Location: Kingfisher Veterinary Practice | Crewkerne, Somerset Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE Bonus: Welcome Bonus up to £5,000, Relocation Allowance up to £5,000


About the Role

At inspiring vet care, we prioritise our team members as much as the 2 million+ animals we care for. Kingfisher Vets – part of IVC/EWE – has been serving the local community for over 100 years. Now expanding, we’re looking for a confident and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our supportive, collaborative team across four practices in the region.

This role offers varied caseloads, from routine consultations to emergency and critical care, with opportunities to develop your skills. We encourage clinical freedom and actively support professional growth.

Our purpose-built main hospital in Crewkerne is equipped with:

  • Video endoscopy
  • Digital dental radiography
  • ECG & multiparameter monitoring
  • Advanced surgical facilities (including collaboration with an orthopaedic specialist)
  • Fully equipped in-house laboratory

Key Responsibilities

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-standard patient and client care.
  • Handle a diverse caseload, including routine first-opinion cases, emergencies, and complex treatments.
  • Develop clinical expertise while sharing knowledge to support team growth.
  • Operate within a 1:3 Saturday rota (8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, sole-charge basis) across 40-hour weeks (FTE) or 30+ hours (part-time).

Requirements

To excel in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A Veterinary degree (or eligibility to register with the RCVS).
  • Confident experience in routine medical and surgical procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to build trust with clients and colleagues.
  • A passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Reliability, teamwork, and independence.

Essential: Full UK driving licence (due to inter-branch travel).
