We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our Manchester White Cross team, ideally working between the Sale and Walkden clinics. As one of the top employers in the UK, we offer candidates an excellent package with the opportunity to enjoy a superb work/life balance. This is a full time role with no out of hours or weekend work and a competitive salary.
About Us
At White Cross Vets, part of inspiring vet care, we have 23 clinics across the UK. All of our clinics have teams with different interests, with team members undergoing further training by certificates or having those that have achieved certificate status. Being part of something bigger, offers a fantastic level of support on a wider group level and allows us to grow and develop a higher quality first opinion pet care, whilst providing internal career progression opportunities. There are three White Cross Clinics in Manchester, and we are looking for someone who could add to the skills and services we already offer between the clinics. At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
Enhance your skills and add to ours!
White Cross Vets encourage growth and certificate support can be offered. Across the Manchester clinics we have vets who have completed or are working towards certificates in medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology and anaesthesia. We like to tackle all aspects of soft tissue surgery ourselves and have visiting veterinary surgeons for orthopaedic surgeries and advanced diagnostic imaging. What could you add to the services we offer?

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Collaboration
We are looking for an experienced vet to work between our Walkden and Sale surgeries. Both clinics have great facilities including 4 consult rooms, cat ward, dog ward, operating theatre, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound and access to endoscope if needed. What would be fantastic would be if you could bring your own area of expertise and someone with a keen interest/certificate in ultrasound would be a fantastic addition to our Manchester team but we would happily consider any area of expertise if you are the right fit for our clinics.
About the Team and Culture
One of the best parts of working at White Cross is the team cultures that are not only created at each individual site but what we are wanting to expand across our Manchester clinics. The Clinic Director works across all sites and we do have staff moving between clinics to support each other as much as possible.
