Permanent Vet at Croft Vets, Brackley
Up to £55,000 (DOE) FTE
At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
Croft Vets are looking for a confident, experienced, and dynamic Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a permanent basis. The role offers a variety of medical and surgical cases, mostly in dogs, cats, and small mammals with the occasional exotic, to keep you busy while allowing you to explore or develop your main areas of interest.
About Us
We are a single site practice with a dentistry referral service. Our ample reception leads to separated dog and cat waiting areas, four consult rooms (one of them is reserved for nurse consults), a prep area, surgical theatre, and separate dentistry room. Our facilities provide ultrasound, dental X-ray, in-house laboratory, laparoscopy, and endoscopy equipment. Our structure allows for 15-minute consults and dedicated surgical days. Work/life balance is important to us. There are no out-of-hours, Sundays, or Bank Holidays. The team is made up of 3 vets with cert holders in medicine and dentistry, 5 support staff, 3 RVNs, 2 SVNs, and 1 ACA.
Here's what our vets have to say
- Vet 1: 'We have a lovely supportive team at Croft's, and we're looking for a new team member to join us to replace a much-valued colleague. As a team, we really enjoy discussing cases and problem-solving together. We have a lovely space to work in with excellent equipment and (perhaps most importantly right now!) air conditioning throughout the building!'
- Vet 2: 'I have been a veterinary surgeon at Croft Veterinary Centre for 8 years now. Part of this is due to the team I really enjoy working with, but also due to the freedom to openly discuss cases with my colleagues, supporting and learning from each other. The balance of consulting and surgery, personally suits me, and I found great support furthering my career when I decided to study a certificate.'

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
