Experienced Veterinary Surgeon – Ayrshire (Multiple Sites)

Salary: Up to £65,000 FTE DOE Working Arrangements:

  • Work across three well-established Ayrshire practice sites

About the Role

Oaks Vets, a friendly and progressive small animal practice, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive team across Ayrshire’s three established sites.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality care within a collaborative environment that values clinical excellence, professional development, and exceptional patient care. Practice Highlights

  • Trusted, long-established small animal practice across Ayrshire
  • Diverse first-opinion caseload balancing consultations and surgery

    • Certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, Nutrition, Diagnostic Imaging/Radiography, and Feline Medicine

Key Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Surgeon at Oaks Vets, you’ll contribute to a high-performing team by:

  • Providing exceptional small animal veterinary care across:
    • Consultations
    • Surgery
    • Diagnostics
  • Managing a dynamic first-opinion caseload with clinical autonomy, backed by experienced colleagues
  • Collaborating with certificate holders and the wider clinical team to deliver best-in-class patient care
  • Building trusting relationships with clients through clear communication and continuous care
  • Fostering a positive team culture that emphasises learning, collaboration, and professional growth
  • Developing personal clinical interests with guidance from an experienced multidisciplinary team

Working Arrangements

Oaks Vets prides itself on flexibility and welcomes applications from both full-time and part-time candidates, including job-sharing roles.

Full-Time Arrangements

  • Flexible schedule across all three practice sites
  • Workload: ~1 in 11 full weekends
  • Saturday shifts (at Largs practice):
    • Rotating between 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • No out-of-hours responsibilities

Part-Time Example

  • Approximately 25 hours per week (distributed across three days)
  • Weekdays: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Weekends: Follows same rota as full-time colleagues (1 in 11 full weekends and Saturday mornings at Largs)

Job-sharing and customisable schedules are encouraged—please discuss options aligned with your needs.
