Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Shreen Vets | Gillingham, Dorset Salary up to £65,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 and Relocation Allowance up to £5,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Shreen Vets is looking for a confident and personable Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming, supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet who enjoys the variety of first-opinion practice, is comfortable with occasional sole charge responsibilities, and thrives in a collaborative environment where teamwork and patient care are at the forefront.

As a dedicated small animal practice, we offer a rewarding balance of consultations and surgery, including two dedicated operating days each week. Our caseload is predominantly routine, providing the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients, deliver continuity of care, and maintain regular surgical exposure while continuing to grow your clinical skills and confidence.

You'll have access to a well-equipped clinical environment, including brand-new digital radiography, ultrasound, flexible endoscopy, capnography, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory. While we utilise referral services when necessary, we pride ourselves on working up and managing a wide range of cases in-house, allowing for a varied and engaging caseload.

Our experienced and proactive RVN team plays a key role within the practice, running their own nurse clinics and providing invaluable support across consultations, inpatient care, and surgery. You'll work alongside a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon and client care team, including an in-house Physiotherapy Certificate Holder, creating a multidisciplinary and supportive approach to patient care.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
