Opportunity: Veterinary Surgeon – First Opinion Small Animal Practice 📍 South of Sheffield, Derbyshire / Near Peak District

A fantastic full-time position (40 hours per week) is available in a thriving small animal veterinary practice just south of Sheffield, with occasional weekends as part of a rota and no out-of-hours requirements.

About the Practice & Role

  • A modern, well-equipped practice featuring:
    • Digital X-ray
    • Ultrasound
    • Blood pressure monitoring
    • In-house laboratory/testing
  • A varied caseload blending general consulting and surgical procedures
  • Ideal for veterinary surgeons seeking routine medical and surgical experience on day shift-only hours

Person Specification

Essential

✅ RCVS registration ✅ Degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent ✅ Practice experience (AQP or preliminaries desirable) ✅ Confidence handling routine clinical surgery and medicine in a first-opinion setting

Nice to Have

🔹 Fundamentals in Canine & Feline Medicine (e.g. repeated medicated cases) 🔹 Surgery/lab experience (e.g. cystoscopies, myelographies, partial mastectomies, dentistry) 🔹 Bronchoscopic or fine needle aspiration (FNA) experience valued 🔹 Basic ultrasound skills not mandatory but welcome
