VFX Artist
VFX Artist – Cloud Imperium Games

About the Role
As a VFX Artist, you’ll work with artists and programmers to create cutting-edge visual effects for a vast, boundless universe. Your tasks will include:
- Crafting a wide range of effects for:
- Epic spaceship battles in giant gas clouds
- Characters surviving raging storms on hostile planets
- Holographic displays in futuristic spaces
- Atmospheric details like dust motes in desolate outposts
- Everything in between!

Responsibilities
Your core duties will be:
- Creating sci-fi VFX using CIG’s real-time VFX Editor
- Generating texture and mesh assets for game integration using tools such as:
- 3DS Max
- Houdini
- Embergen
- After Effects
- Optimising effects to balance performance and visual quality
- Collaborating with VFX programmers to refine technology and workflows
- Working with Art, Design, and Audio teams to enhance the Star Citizen universe
Requirements
To thrive as a VFX Artist at CIG, we expect:
- A strong grasp of theoretical and technical VFX fundamentals (both artistic & engineering sides)
- Experience using real-time particle systems in game engines
- An eye for detail and attention to breaking down effects in games/films for reference
- Self-motivation and the ability to drive your own workload
- Problem-solving skills—rising to creative and technical challenges
- Passion for pushing real-time VFX forward
