Vibration & Acoustics Engineer

Vibroacoustic Engineer - Designing the Future of Electric Aviation

About the Role

At Vertical Aerospace, we’re redefining aerospace with our eVTOL aircraft, Valo—an all-electric, low-emission solution that will set unprecedented safety standards. Our mission goes beyond tradition, targeting airliner-level safety certification by 2028 and blurring the lines between SME agility and bold aerospace innovation.

As a Vibroacoustic Engineer, you’ll be central to ensuring Valo excels in real-world vibration and acoustic performance. Your work will shape certification pathways, improve structural robustness, and deliver practical engineering solutions under development—where uncertainty is the norm, your expertise turns data into action.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities

  • **Lead and support DO-160 operational vibrations and shock qualification for Valo systems, ensuring critical safety and reliability standards.
  • Manage, refine, and develop vibroacoustic models to predict mechanical behaviour, internal noise levels, and overall structural integrity.
  • Analyse vibration test data from ground and flight testing, translating raw accelerometer measurements into meaningful engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate across teams—Flight Physics, certification engineers, test groups, systems design, and suppliers—to troubleshoot defects and optimise tests when data gaps exist.
  • Apply structural dynamics expertise to enhance Valo’s vibroacoustic response in design.
  • Offer practical engineering solutions when testing data is incomplete or under-development, balancing ambition with pragmatic action.
  • Bridge the gap between models, tests, and real-world flight—ensuring we're always close to safe, evidence-led qualification.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key Challenges Include

Progressively analyse and solve non-trivial vibration issues as we scale Valo from prototype toward full aircraft certification.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or applied vibrations (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Strong background in structural dynamics with hands-on experience of:
    • Vibration testing/qualification (ground or flight).
    • Data analysis (preferably accelerometer data and DO-160 techniques).
  • Practical experience in aerospace environments, ideally with rotorcraft, eVTOL, or fixed-wing qualification testing.
  • Ability to work remotely with suppliers and test houses, having excellent C&P acumen tackling noise/vibration issues.
  • Certificationданаlly grounded attitude—some data may be sparse—but knowledge to draw robust qualifications from gaps, pending final tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to co-create with multidisciplinary teams.

Nice-to-Have

  • Familiarity with vibroacoustic software (e.g. Ansys, Nastran, SIMLAB, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
  • Previous review experience with certification documentation, such as EASA CS-Orth[8] (or equivalent).

What You’ll Get from Us

A Company on a Mission

With responsibilities like ours—demanding rigorous innovation, breadth of responsibility and no half measures—we want the best of you to bring the most out of yourself.

  • Nuanced environment: You’ll jump into testing, iterate on design ideas, and embrace both hands-on technical challenges and regulatory intricacies that can feel limiting.
  • Unmatched rapid iteration: At 5 years from prototype to certification, we’re accelerating industry change—not perfecting the protocols of the past.
  • Round the clock support: We’re empowering our vibrant workforce, but your role itself is ingeniously rewarding – shaping the future of air mobility.

Powerful Disclosures

We discourage snowflaking applicants—we’d much rather hear proactivity over apologies where experience/mechanisms might be emergent. Talent diversifies.
