Vice President – Operations SME/Business Technology Liaison
Location: Manchester | Division: Fund and Investor Solutions

Join BNY Mellon as the Vice President – Operations SME/Business Technology Liaison to enhance our Fund and Investor Solutions team. Step into a role that bridges business strategy and technological execution, ensuring our systems and processes align with operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Business-Technology Liaison
- Serve as the primary interface between Operations and Engineering/Technology teams, ensuring seamless alignment
- Translate complex operational processes into clear business and system requirements, reducing gaps between strategy and implementation
- Bridge the gap between product design and real-world operational workflows, guaranteeing consistency and efficiency
Reference Data & Security Setup Ownership
- Own security master and static data across all asset classes, including:
- Fixed income, equities, derivatives
- Structured products, private placements
- Define and standardize critical attributes such as:
- Coupon terms, PIK features, unique identifiers, pricing conventions, and lifecycle events
- Ensure data integrity across systems, optimizing flow into NAV calculations, trading processes, and reporting for accuracy and speed
Product & Pod Collaboration
- Partner with Product Owners to:
- Shape the product backlog
- Prioritize high-impact use cases
- Define acceptance criteria, validation rules, and exception handling logic
- Contribute deep subject matter expertise (SME) to:
- Design decisions, rule sets, and workflow optimizations
- Operate effectively within agile pod structures, delivering incremental, high-value enhancements

Automation and Scalability
- Identify automation opportunities to transition manual security setup into scalable, AI-driven solutions such as:
- AI-based data extraction
- Rules-based engines
- Digital operational workflows (e.g., "Digital Employees")
- Drive end-to-end solutioning, from problem identification to hands-on design, build, and deployment
- Focus on:
- First-Time Right (FTR) rates
- Exception reduction
- Acceleration of onboarding timelines
Ownership & Governance
- Take full independent ownership of deliverables and their long-term success
- Ensure solutions are seamlessly embedded within Business-as-Usual (BAU) processes
- Monitor post-implementation performance and champion continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications & Experience
10–15+ years profound expertise in any of the following domains:
- Reference Data Management
- Static Data Populations (Instrument Characteristics, Classifications, etc.)
- Cyber-security master data administration
- Function-specific ownership in:
- Fixed-income instruments (securities, bonds, and notes)
- Convertible securities and Structured Notes
- Private placements and alternative investments
Technology & Execution Skills
✔ Proven expertise in working with complex instrument structures and specialized asset classes ✔ Strong ability to translate business workflows into system requirements, including:
- Data models, validation rules, and security tagging ✔ Chemistry with downstream impact areas such as:
- NAV reporting, accrual calculations, regulatory adherence, and trading rules ✔ Hands-on familiarity with product-led operating models and platform service execution ✔ Experience with automation tools, AI/ML applications, or workflow rationalizations is a serious plus ✔ Demonstrated ability to own solutions independently, prioritize trade-offs, and drive excellence without direct authority
