Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking, commercial real estate lending and servicing, investment banking, equity and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe.

Commercial Real Estate (CRE)

Delivers a comprehensive platform of financing and banking products for experienced commercial real estate clients, including balance sheet lending, CMBS origination and distribution, loan warehousing, agency financing for multifamily properties, and debt and equity capital for affordable housing.

About this role

As a core member of the deal team, the Commercial Real Estate Vice President is responsible for underwriting, executing, and actively managing a diversified CRE portfolio across direct lending and structured finance (including repo and note-on-note exposures) across the UK and Europe.

This role blends strong technical execution with growing leadership responsibility, requiring the ability to independently drive complex transactions, proactively manage portfolio risk, and influence decision-making across internal and external stakeholders. The position supports disciplined risk management, portfolio performance, and business growth across CRE EMEA within the Global Commercial Real Estate platform, which forms part of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division.

At Wells Fargo, you'll be part of a culture that values collaboration, accountability, and inclusion, where diverse perspectives are encouraged and employees are empowered to grow their careers. Our Global Commercial Real Estate platform offers the opportunity to work on high-profile, complex transactions alongside experienced industry professionals, while contributing to a business focused on serving clients, managing risk responsibly, and creating long-term value. You'll benefit from meaningful exposure to senior leaders, a strong team-oriented environment, and opportunities for continued professional development within one of the world's leading financial institutions.

In this role you will:

Transaction Execution & Underwriting

  • Lead the underwriting and execution of complex CRE transactions across property types (industrial, office, retail, hospitality, data centres, and living sectors) and facility types (construction, bridge, and term lending).
  • Own end-to-end transaction delivery, including structuring, due diligence, documentation, and closing, in partnership with legal, compliance, and capital markets teams.
  • Prepare and challenge detailed financial analysis, including cash flow modelling, leverage metrics, sponsor evaluation, and downside stress scenarios.
  • Review third-party diligence (appraisals, environmental, insurance, property condition, tax), ensuring outputs are rigorously assessed and reflected in risk and structuring decisions.
  • Prepare and present investment and credit materials, supporting recommendations in governance forums (e.g., credit and investment committees).
  • Maintain market insight across CRE sectors and geographies, incorporating macro trends and local dynamics into underwriting decisions.
  • Execute structured finance transactions across repo and NoN platforms, applying knowledge of underwriting, asset eligibility, and the operational and regulatory frameworks governing these facilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
