Job Description

The VP, Head of Europe Interchange & Pricing will lead all aspects of interchange and pricing strategy across the Europe region. This is a senior leadership role that requires close collaboration with the Europe Leadership Team, global Interchange & Pricing teams, and key cross-functional partners across Sales, VAS, CMS, Solutions, Finance, Legal, Risk, Government Affairs, and Client Services.

The successful candidate will be a strategic leader who can take a holistic view of the economic levers Visa uses to strengthen issuer preference, expand merchant acceptance of electronic payments, and optimize and diversify revenue across Europe. The individual should bring strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders, including clients, throughout strategy development and execution. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of setting strategic direction, building scalable business processes, and leading high-performing teams in complex, matrixed environments. Deep experience developing and executing interchange and pricing strategies will be essential, along with the ability to modernize ways of working through data, automation, and AI-enabled tools where appropriate.

This role includes serving as a voting member of the Europe Deal Review and participates in the Europe GIG forum.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Global Interchange, and is based in Visa’s London office.

Essential Functions

Interchange & Pricing Strategy Lead the development of interchange and pricing strategies for Europe, taking into account value, product and service differentiation, sustainability, and the competitive landscape. Develop and steer a clear strategic roadmap (3–5 years) across core payments, new flows (e.g., A2A, Visa Direct), and value-added services. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive strategic alignment and establish best practices for interchange and pricing across Europe. Responsibilities include opportunity identification, forecasting, business case development, rate structure design, stakeholder impact assessment, and implementation planning. Identify and implement new revenue models, while strengthening existing models, to optimize net revenue growth. Align and lead relevant interchange and pricing initiatives to advance Visa’s long-term strategic objectives. Shape Visa’s position on interchange regulation and policy topics, working closely with Legal and Government Engagement. Lead constructive engagement with regulators, including central banks, competition authorities, and other stakeholders, to support balanced outcomes that enable the continued growth of the four-party model and further digitization of payments. Act as a trusted advisor, partnering with the European Leadership and functions including Legal, Finance, Risk, Sales, Client Services and Product. Make decisions with limited guidance, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization. Communicate and advocate Visa’s interchange and pricing strategy with clients and internal stakeholders in a clear, compelling, and commercially grounded manner. Identify opportunities to modernize interchange and pricing workflows through data, automation, and AI-enabled solutions, including the responsible use of agent-based tools where appropriate. Leadership Provide inspiring leadership to attract, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing, high-potential, and diverse talent, while building a strong pipeline of future leaders for the company. Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and development to the Interchange & Pricing team Lead talent management and organizational design efforts to continuously improve team effectiveness and operating efficiency. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, including building organizational fluency in AI-enabled tools and guiding the responsible development and use of intelligent workflows or agents. 15+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in payments, management consulting, corporate strategy, pricing, banking, or finance. Relevant degree in finance, economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Significant experience in the payments industry preferred, with strong knowledge of network economics, value flows, and competitive dynamics. Experienced, results-oriented leader with a proven ability to lead high-impact, region-wide initiatives across multiple workstreams. Demonstrated success addressing a broad range of strategic and operational business challenges. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong intellectual rigor and sound business judgment. Ability to quickly assess opportunities through fact-based analysis and industry insight, and translate that assessment into sound decisions. Strong executive presence, with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively and influence senior leaders, external partners, and industry regulators. Comfortable operating in complex and ambiguous environments, with the ability to develop rigorous, fact-based recommendations for senior management and build alignment across stakeholders in a matrixed organization. Experience operating in a growing global business, with a strong reputation for working effectively across organizational levels and functions. Strong understanding of Visa’s products and solutions portfolio, with the ability to partner effectively with product teams and subject matter experts and align decisions with company priorities. Self-starter who is collaborative, diplomatic, flexible, and team-oriented, with strong presentation and communication skills. Digitally and analytically fluent, with the ability to apply data, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve strategic insight, operating efficiency, and execution.
