Vice President, Middle Office Manager

Vice President, Middle Office Manager — Global Loan Operations (London, UK)

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Middle Office Manager to join our Global Loan Operations team, located in London, UK.

Key Impact Areas

This role delivers meaningful contributions across these critical functions:

  • Trade Order Management & Settlement Tracking

    • Raise and manage new trade orders in BNY’s proprietary platforms, tracking trades through to settlement.
  • LMA/LSTA and Distressed Loan Closing Process

    • Oversee the LMA/LSTA par and distressed loan closing process, serving as escalation lead to ensure on-time, accurate closings.
  • Complex Transaction Support

    • Assist clients with complex loan transactions and refinancings.
  • Documentation Analysis & Decision Guidance

    • Analyze and interpret documentation for distressed assets (e.g., Credit Agreements, Shareholder/Co-Op Agreements) to support settlement and booking decisions.
  • Third-Party Collaboration & Troubleshooting

    • Partner with third-party settlement vendors, troubleshoot breaks/exceptions to ensure seamless, timely settlements.
  • Intraday Liquidity & Allocation Optimization

    • Monitor intraday liquidity and optimize settlement allocations across multiple funds, balancing urgency, efficiency, and risk.
  • Corporate Actions & Restructurings

    • Research and process corporate actions and restructurings, aligning with fund objectives.
  • Position Break Resolution

    • Track and resolve position breaks, escalating to the desk and technology partners as needed.

  • Operational Excellence & Automation

    • Continuously refine BNY’s operating model by identifying automation and process-enhancement opportunities, collaborating with Technology, Treasury, and Fund Finance.
  • Cross-Team Liaison & Reporting

    • Liaise with custodians, administrators, and internal teams on trade/position/pricing queries.
    • Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting to senior management, compliance, and external partners.
  • TeamCulture & Knowledge-Sharing

    • Collaborate with the Global Bank Loans Middle Office team—spreading best practices and fostering continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate the following expertise and qualities:

  • Experience: 4–7 years in trade operations or settlement, specialising in syndicated bank loans.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of bank-debt closing processes and credit-documentation conventions.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced MS Excel ability, with a track record of building models/tooling to improve efficiency (Spark Progress).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills—capable of distilling complexity and owning processes end-to-end.
  • Attitude: A self-starter who thrives under pressure, manages competing priorities, and continually seeks to learn (Stay Curious).
  • Collaboration: Committed to BNY’s "Thrive Together" culture—embracing knowledge-sharing and collective team success.
