About the Role
We are recruiting a VP – Accounting (Mandarin Speaking) into a London-based finance team for our established international banking group. This leadership position focuses on overseeing accounting operations, statutory reporting, financial controls, and group financial reporting in a regulated banking environment. You’ll manage an 8-member accounting team, collaborate with senior leaders across Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Audit, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting while driving strategic initiatives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Lead accurate and timely financial reporting under IFRS, regulatory standards, and Group accounting policies.
- Oversee statutory reporting, month-end processes, and group-level financial reporting to Finance leadership.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, documentation, and procedures.
Financial Controls & Governance
- Strengthen the financial control environment, ensuring governance and operational best practices.
- Identify financial/operational risks, implementing controls and remediation plans.
- Drive process optimisation in accounting, controls, and financial reporting.
Audit & Regulatory Oversight
- Manage the annual statutory audit process as the primary external auditor liaison.
- Coordinate internal audits and assurance reviews, resolving findings promptly.
- Support regulatory compliance and financial reporting obligations.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounting team, cultivating high performance and engagement.
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
- Provide technical guidance and align finance function with strategic objectives.

Your Profile
- Qualified Accountant: ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Mandarin (essential).
- Experience:
- Proven banking or financial services accounting expertise.
- Strong IFRS, financial controls, and audit knowledge.
- Experience in leading statutory audits and collaborating with internal/external auditors.
- Managed 8+ member teams in equivalent roles.
- Skills:
- Exceptional analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement and best practices.
