Vice President of Engineering

Vice President of Engineering / CTO Location: London, On-site

Albert Bow is partnering with a high-growth technology company to appoint a hands-on Vice President of Engineering. This is an opportunity to join a growing AI Product business at a pivotal stage of growth, leading engineering strategy while remaining close to the technology, product, and delivery.

Our client is looking for a builder as much as a leader. Unlike traditional VP Engineering roles that focus primarily on people management, this position requires someone who maintains strong technical depth, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and can contribute directly to architecture, product direction, and, where appropriate, code.

The successful candidate will have experience building and scaling modern software products, leading high-performing engineering teams, and delivering AI-powered solutions that create measurable business value.

The Opportunity

As VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for the overall engineering function, working closely with the executive team to shape product strategy, technology direction, and organisational growth.

This role will suit an engineering leader who enjoys operating at both strategic and tactical levels - someone equally comfortable discussing company objectives with the board as they are reviewing architecture decisions, supporting engineers, or contributing to complex technical initiatives - this is a highly technical role

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Define and execute the company's engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams and future engineering leaders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish engineering processes and operating frameworks that support rapid and predictable delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
