The Opportunity
In an era of rapid market and technological change, the VP of Strategy for Data Services will:
- Own and shape the strategic direction for our markets
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership
- Define long-term growth strategies to drive sustained success
Key Accountabilities
Business Strategy Development
- Lead the development of portfolio-level strategy for Data Services across segments to:
- Spur innovation
- Expand market scale
- Increase customer value
- Own the group and segment vision, purpose and strategic goals, ensuring alignment with both short- and long-term ambitions
- Serve as the executive team’s strategic advisor, addressing:
- Emerging market trends
- Technological shifts
- Evolving customer needs
- Translate strategy into clear priorities, investments, and measurable outcomes to guide decisive leadership action

Growth, M&A & Ecosystem Strategy
- Identify and evaluate growth opportunities in core segments, adjacent markets, and digital ecosystems
- Evolve product strategies and business models to meet customer needs
- Oversee M&A pipelines by collaborating with:
- Individual Data Services brands
- RELX Corporate Finance
- Risk M&A teams
- Guide segment transformation initiatives, including:
- Entry into adjacent markets
- Commercial strategy
- Portfolio prioritisation
- Assess potential strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and divestments
- Maximise data ecosystem opportunities to enhance:
- Customer engagement
- Commercial outcomes
Market & Customer Insights
- Develop a deep, data-driven understanding of:
- Market fundamentals (workflows, customer value, unmet needs)
- Regional differentiation
- Competitive positioning
- Business models
- Ensure strategic plans are backed by:
- Sound market intelligence
- Robust customer insights
- Deepen comprehension of:
- Segment drivers and barriers
- Emerging trends in:
- Markets

- Anticipate future opportunities, risks, and impact
