Vice President, POM Product Management

Product Owner, Senior Vice President, Wealth Solutions

Location: Manchester, UK

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Vice President, Product Owner for Wealth Solutions to join our dynamic team at BNY. This role will provide influential product leadership within the Wealth Solutions product function, shaping priorities, delivery approaches, and outcomes that enhance platform capability, control, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Provide product leadership within Wealth Solutions, shaping priorities, delivery approaches, and platform outcomes.
  • Own the product vision and strategic roadmap for key offerings, translating strategic intent into executable plans that align with business goals.
  • Drive hands-on product ownership, taking accountability for ** requirements definition, prioritization, and delivery** across multiple agile Scrum teams.

Stakeholder Partnerships

  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Technology, Operations, Sales, and other stakeholders to:
    • Gather and synthesize requirements
    • Manage dependencies
    • Ensure successful product delivery

Team Leadership & Backlog Management

  • Lead and mentor engineering, QE (Quality Engineering), and design teams, including:
    • Defining and prioritizing the product backlog
    • Writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria
    • Maintaining a groomed backlog several sprints ahead

Innovation & Risk Management

  • Monitor industry trends, competition, and client feedback to:
    • Proactively inform prioritization decisions
    • Identify emerging risks or opportunities
    • Adjust delivery plans as needed

Operational Excellence

  • Champion pragmatic improvements, including:
    • Responsible application of AI and automation to enhance delivery efficiency, control, and client experience
    • Data-driven decision-making using metrics and analytics

Target Operating Models

  • Define and implement operating models for new or enhanced Wealth Solutions by establishing:
    • Clear ownership and accountability
    • Roles for operations and technology teams

Data & Reporting

  • Ensure robust data foundations by:
    • Shaping data requirements
    • Aligning teams around shared data models and quality standards
    • Driving informed decision-making

Culture & Mentorship

  • Model modern, inclusive product leadership, including:
    • Coaching new Product Owners
    • Using influence over authority to navigate ambiguity
    • Resolving complex challenges through collaboration

Eligibility & Experience

Technical & Financial Knowledge

  • Strong expertise in wealth services cash management, including:
    • Payments (Bacs, CHAPS, SWIFT, faster payments)
    • Cash accounting structures
    • Cash movements and reconciliations
    • Relationships with external systems (3rd parties) and upstream/downstream dependencies

Product & Financial Services Experience

  • Proven Product Owner, business change, or equivalent role in finance (or transitioning from high-potential financial services backgrounds).
  • Track record of successfully building, launching, and iterating products from ideation to execution.

Technical & Methodological Skills

  • Experience with:
    • APIs, cloud-native architectures, and data visualization tools
    • Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), including:
      • Writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria
      • Daily team direction in fast-paced environments

Academic Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or professional certifications [e.g., CSPO, SAFe] are a plus).

Soft Skills & Leadership

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills to engage and align senior stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving, with data-driven analysis of financial metrics.
  • Ability to build business cases and lead through collaboration.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in prioritization within fast-paced environments.
