Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

The Strategic Equity Solutions Group (SES) sits in Markets and is part of a joint venture with ECM, residing in Global Banking. It focuses on structured equity transactions in public markets.

As part of the SES team, you’ll help clients manage their exposure to concentrated listed equity stakes. You’ll originate, structure and execute transactions across the equity lifecycle: Stake building, Financing, Hedging, Yield enhancement, Stake disposal/monetisation, Structured buybacks and equity-linked treasury solutions, Convertible/exchangeable bonds. You’ll report into the European Head of SES and contribute to the business in the UK, Continental Europe and Middle East, with managerial responsibility for UK team members. You’ll support the coverage of clients in relation to managing and optimising listed equity situations, that can include structural features to address any of fiscal, derivative, accounting and legal requirements.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Direct marketing to clients in allocated areas and securing client transactions
  • Obtaining pricing and structuring with the trading desks and optimising client solutions
  • Executing client trades, with the help and support of junior team members
  • Overseeing the production of supporting materials for risk approvals, liaising with various stakeholders as well as subsequent attendance in approval forums
  • Working on wider syndications with bank peer group

What you’ll bring:

The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for success in this role.

  • Extensive knowledge of financial markets including both cash and derivative products. This includes associated documentation as well as the associated risks and their mitigants
  • Well-developed client skills – ability to engage with senior stakeholders, clients and advisors whilst always adopting a strategic approach to client relationships
  • Up-to-date understanding of the regulatory environment as well as the relevant requirements
  • Regulatory accreditations required by the regulator
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent, in a relevant subject such as Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • CFA qualification or equivalent
  • Fluency in other European languages

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

How we’ll reward you.

Your contribution matters, and it’s recognised. You can expect a fair, competitive reward package that reflects the impact you create and the value you deliver. As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs.

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
