“Our remit is simple: to make money work for the world.” We’re now seeking a Vice President, Trustee & Depositary Manager to join our Trustee & Depositary (T&D) team in Edinburgh, working in a hybrid capacity.
About the Role
You’ll be a strategic leader in depositary and trustee services, owning end-to-end client relationships while driving operational excellence and innovation within the industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Client Leadership – Ensuring exceptional service quality at a senior level for clients, driving satisfaction and retention.
- Operational Change – Leading initiatives to improve efficiencies within the Client Management Team and broader Depositary operations.
- Knowledge & Expertise – Deepening and disseminating product/industry knowledge across teams to support clients and colleagues.
- Client Meetings & Reporting –
- Facilitating client review sessions and crafting actionable insights.
- Collaborating with T&D business areas to streamline documentation reviews for change events.
- Business Growth –
- Uncovering and maximising cross-selling opportunities for BNYM’s core capabilities.
- Supporting client pitches, RFPs, and RFIs to attract new business.

Requirements
This role demands strategic insight, deep industry credibility, and exceptional collaborative skills. You’ll thrive if you have:
- Education/Professional Development: A degree in finance, business, or related field—or an equivalent relevant professional qualification.
- Technical Expertise:
- Profound knowledge of CIS (Common Industry Standards), including frameworks like ENSP, RIMTP, and MiFID II.
- Hands-on experience in depositary operation management, with familiarity with insurance operational risks (IOR).
- Client-Centric Experience: Previous tenure in a custodian/fund manager role, with a track record of client-facing leadership.
- Soft Skills:
- Proven ability to build long-term trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Clear, persuasive communication (both verbal and written) to engage senior executives and technical teams.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Agile ability to multitask under pressure while maintaining meticulous organization.
- Experience coordinating with regulatory authorities (FCA, EC) and industry bodies.
