In Justice, we work with young people and adults in custody and in the community, providing a range of services including offender management and resettlement, veterans in custody, victim services, gangs work and youth justice.

Catch22's Victim Service provide emotional and practical support for victims and witnesses of crime and anti-social behaviour, alongside crime prevention advice. Last year, we supported 32,500 victims across the UK, achieving improved health and wellbeing outcomes for 99% of our service users.

Job Description

As a Victim Care Coordinator, you will be providing support to victims of crime across Greater Manchester and manage a caseload of referrals made by Greater Manchester Police. You'll be the primary point of contact throughout the victim’s journey, providing initial contact and assessment of the individual's needs, and tailoring support plans to meet these needs. This may include emotional or practical support from you directly, or signposting and advocacy on behalf of external partners.

In addition to managing a caseload of service users with varying needs, you'll also be the team's lead in a specialist area. As lead, you'll make sure our services and interventions relating to that specialism remain current, building relationships and expertise in this specialism and ensuring that Catch22 is positioned as a leader in the sector.

Main duties

  • Provide effective interventions to support those in need whether be over the phone or in-person
  • Reporting caseload to leadership and ensuring data is collected and recorded accurately.
  • Other administrative duties.
  • Be a representative of Catch22 and engage with partnerships. This will involve attending engagement events, local community centres, and liaising with other organisations to ensure the service provides the best emotional support for victims.
  • Become the lead specialist in one of the following areas:
    • Domestic Abuse
    • Sexual Violence
    • FGM
    • Children and Young People
    • Gangs and Knife Crime
    • Modern Day Slavery
    • Hate Crimes
    • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
    • Fraud
    • Radicalisation

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following skills, abilities and experience:

  • Experience of working with or supporting vulnerable people, either through paid or voluntary employment, or even through personal experience.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • A basic level of education – good verbal/written communication essential for writing evidence involved with casework.
  • Good level of basic IT skills - post will involve daily use of a variety of systems required for administrative duties and necessary reporting.
  • Victim Care Coordinators must be non-judgmental and non-discriminatory. It is essential that the post holder recognises the hardship victims face and works effectively with a variety of skilled workers.
  • Post is subject to a diverse range of victims with a number of varying backgrounds.
  • Good communication – written and verbal communication. Able to actively listen and understand the needs of service users. Communicate solutions to solve problems effectively for supporting service users.
  • Victim Care Coordinators will need to be resilient and committed to achieving positive outcomes for our Service Users.

Additional Requirements:

Successful post-holders will need to have a full UK Driving License and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes. The NPPV (non-police personnel vetting) check also requires that the post-holder has lived in the UK for the past 3 years with a few exceptions.

Contract: Permanent

Hours & work pattern: Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: £26,097

Location: You will spend 1-2 days per week in GMP HQ, Newton Heath. The remainder of your time will be split between remote working and supporting victims in the community.

Screening:

Successful admission to post subject to enhanced DBS check, police vetting check, and employer Right To Work in the UK check. The post-holder must have right to work in the UK. Catch22 does not currently provide a licence to sponsor visas but please see this register to see those that do.

Shift patterns:

Hours and days worked will change week-by-week on a rota basis. The work pattern will vary but start and end times of the day will be consistent across the week.

Every 4 week term will include one working Saturday (with a non-working week day during that week) and one Sunday on call.

Shift start times and end time will be between 0800-1800 and be a 7.5 hour work day.
