About The Role
Join us at Fireship, one of the biggest software engineering and tech channels on YouTube, known for its high-energy, fast-paced tutorials and breakdowns of programming, software development, and technology trends. With a loyal following of over 4 million subscribers, Fireship specializes in delivering bite-sized, informative, and entertaining tech content that makes complex topics easy to understand.
We are looking for talented and creative freelance Video Editors to join our remote content production team. The ideal candidates will have experience in story-based video editing and a strong interest in technology, coding, and development. If you have experience creating tutorial-based or coding-oriented videos, this will be a huge advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the production and video editing of Fireship’s YouTube content to increase the quantity and variety of output, contributing to the growth and engagement of the audience.
- Proactively source, select and import relevant media elements (videos, images) to elevate scripts and voice overs into dynamic video content.
- Collaborate closely with creators and scriptwriters to ensure alignment with the overall storytelling vision, while demonstrating initiative and producing high-quality work that meets expectations.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation to ensure easy access to assets and seamless collaboration with team members.
- Keep up to date with internet culture and news from the tech world.

Skills and experience
- Proven experience in video editing, with a strong editorial portfolio that demonstrates expertise in digital content creation, particularly for YouTube and short form video that tells a story with archive images.
- Confident use of keyframe animation for ‘faceless’ video content.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring consistency in the use of fonts, colors, styles, and visual elements as per the Fireship brand, while elevating the production value.
- Experience working with programming or tech-related content is highly desirable, with the ability to understand complex topics and break them down into digestible, engaging video formats.
- A passion for technology, programming, and digital content creation, with a keen interest in staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
- YouTube is your primary source of media for education and entertainment, such that you have an innate ability to craft YouTube videos that maximize engagement and audience retention.
Desirable
- Competence in popular coding and programming languages, especially experience working as a software developer or building digital projects.
- Flexible working hours in order to collaborate with colleagues across European and US time zones.

Rate: 250 - 350 USD per day (depending on experience. This will be converted into the currency of where you are based)
