Video Producer

Metro.co.uk – Permanent (Metro Headquarters, London)

About the Role

Metro.co.uk delivers news, sport, analysis, features, opinion, and shareable content to a global audience and is seeking a talented Video Producer to join its fast-paced, 24-hour newsroom.

This role involves:

  • Sourcing, editing, and producing video content for Metro.co.uk and social platforms
  • Demonstrating technical expertise in Adobe Premiere and other video editing software
  • Sourcing breaking news and trending content before competitors can access it
  • Undertaking shoot experience (preferred)
  • Ensuring rights management, copyright compliance, and editorial standards
  • Aligning content with SMO (Social Media Optimisation) and SEO strategies

Ideal candidates will have experience in: ✔ A newsroom environment, where fast turnaround and editorial acumen are essential ✔ Sourcing engaging premium content from across the internet ✔ Adapting video for multiple platforms with cutting-edge storytelling ✔ Crafting content that builds a distinctive Metro.co.uk voice across all platforms ✔ Legal and ethical compliance, including adherence to the UK Editors’ Code of Practice, media law, and copyright regulations

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and publish high-quality video content for news, features, and trending stories
  • Produce multi-format video content, from raw clips and B-roll adjustments to social media shorts/Reels
  • Source, investigate, and execute footage globally to ensure editorial excellence
  • Collaborate with journalists, designers, and marketers to align content with campaign goals
  • Lead SMO and SEO initiatives, ensuring video content enhances social engagement and search rankings
  • Manage legal compliance regarding copyright, image use, and quotable quotes
  • Contribute to workplace inclusivity and maintain a safe, equitable environment
