Video & Visual Content Creator - Volunteer

EcoCounts is seeking a creative volunteer with an interest in visual storytelling to help produce engaging photo and video content. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to develop practical filming and editing skills while supporting meaningful, community-based climate action.

What difference will you make?

Visual storytelling plays an essential role in helping EcoCounts communicate its work, engage new audiences, and build wider awareness of practical climate action.

As a Volunteer Content Creator, your contribution will directly strengthen EcoCounts’ ability to share its activities, workshops, and ideas in a clear, engaging, and accessible way.

Through this role, you will help EcoCounts

Increase the visibility of our workshops, initiatives, and community activities Improve the quality and consistency of our social media presence Support public engagement with climate and carbon footprint awareness Enable the team to focus more fully on delivering programmes and events Create a steady stream of visual content that supports our communications and outreach

Your work will help translate EcoCounts’ ideas and activities into compelling visual narratives, making climate action feel more relatable, practical, and human.

By strengthening our communications and audience engagement, this role contributes directly to EcoCounts’ wider mission of encouraging participation in meaningful, community-based climate action.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a creative, curious, and reliable volunteer who enjoys visual storytelling and is motivated to contribute to meaningful climate action.

This role is well-suited to someone with an interest in photography, video, or content creation who would like to develop or apply their skills in a practical, real-world context.

Most important

Experience in photography, video, or visual storytelling Basic ability to use a camera or smartphone Enthusiasm for creating engaging visual content Willingness to learn and experiment with filming and editing techniques Reliability and ability to attend Monday sessions Comfortable working collaboratively with a small team

Helpful But Not Essential

Basic video editing skills (any software welcome) Awareness of framing and composition Interest in learning manual camera settings Experience creating content for social media Experience managing digital files or media assets

What will you be doing?

The Volunteer Content Creator will support EcoCounts by producing engaging visual content that helps communicate our activities, ideas, and community initiatives.

A key priority of this role is capturing and creating photo and video material that can be used across our social media channels, websites, and publications.

Key Responsibilities

Capturing photo and video content during EcoCounts Mondays workshops and related activities Creating visual material suitable for social media platforms (Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Nextdoor) Supporting the production of promotional videos and visual assets Producing images and short-form content for websites, articles, and reports Working with EcoCounts’ social media account managers to respond to content needs Organising and managing digital files and media assets

Key priorities

Generating a steady stream of usable visual content Helping improve the quality and consistency of EcoCounts’ communications Supporting the visibility of workshops, projects, and initiatives

The volunteer will work closely with EcoCounts’ communications and social media leads. Availability on Mondays is important, as many activities take place during EcoCounts ' Monday sessions.
