Are you passionate about providing a great service? Are you flexible? Do you share our values? Do you enjoy working with a great team? If you’re nodding, then we hope you’ll consider applying to join our team. Village Porters at St Monica Trust undertake a valuable and varied role. They ensure the safety of our residents, staff and external visitors, they respond to incidents and emergencies, and they play their part in the successful day to day running of our service. The Village Porters are normally the first point of contact at any of our sites. They’re the ones you’ll speak to when you call to gain entry to buildings or meet out-and-about on reassurance patrols. They are known among our residents and staff as having knowledge about our services, buildings and events. Our residents get to know our Village Porters by name and vice versa. A resident sums up their role - “they do the things that happen behind the scenes and can turn their hands to anything…” What we’re looking for: The role of Village Porter will deal with anyone coming onto site, closely followed by responding to incidents, fire alarms, reassurance patrols, monitor CCTV and phone calls – as such, basic knowledge of health & safety/fire is essential and basic computer skills. Keeping the team informed of events and incidents is crucial – we’ll be looking for clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to act promptly and effectively in an emergency. Our Village Porters tell us that you must be “chatty and personable” and “always on alert”. Due to the nature of the services we provide at St Monica Trust, we will also be looking for an understanding of older people’s needs. Additionally, the wide range of tasks associated with this role (as outlined in the role profile) will require a good level of practical skills and a full UK driving license. £13.64 per hour, plus enhancements of £1 on weekend and nights; working 8 hour shifts, 40 hours a week, 6am to 2pm or 2 to 10pm and 10pm to 6am on a 7 week rolling rota. Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
