About the role:

Embedded within the Advanced Manufacturing team, this role serves as the technical lead for vision and inspection technologies across RPSI manufacturing sites in EMEA. With deep expertise in machine vision, inspection systems, sensors, lighting, and image processing, the Vision and Inspection Technology Specialist identifies, evaluates, and implements solutions that enhance product quality, process capability, and operational reliability. This role represents plant needs in vision and inspection technology strategy and ensures successful deployment and integration of inspection solutions.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Technology Ownership & Deployment

Lead the evaluation, selection, and deployment of vision and inspection technologies including 2D/3D vision systems, cameras, sensors, lighting, and image processing platforms. Ensure vision and inspection solutions are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned with quality, safety, and operational goals. Collaborate with vendors, integrators, and internal teams to deliver successful installations, commissioning, and validation. Manage lifecycle planning for vision and inspection technologies, including upgrades, obsolescence, and standardisation. Build an active network of best-in-class vision and inspection technology vendors and products.

Feasibility & Value Assessment

Conduct technical feasibility studies and performance evaluations for proposed vision and inspection solutions. Support business case development and investment planning for inspection and quality automation initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve defect detection, yield, traceability, and process robustness through vision technologies.

Regional Coordination

Self identify and lead frequent improvement initiatives across the region e.g. False Reject Reduction, vendor supported initiatives, system optimisation visits. Represent plant vision and inspection needs across RPSI sites in EMEA, tailoring solutions to local constraints and opportunities. Coordinate regional rollouts of vision and inspection technologies, ensuring consistency and operational readiness. Facilitate cross-site collaboration and knowledge sharing on vision and inspection technologies.

Integration & Collaboration

Work closely with Automation, Controls, OT, and Digital Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of vision systems with machines and plant systems. Support alignment between vision and inspection technologies and broader Industry 4.0 and digital initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve vision and inspection-related issues in collaboration with plant teams.

Capability Building & Best Practice

Share lessons learned, technical standards, and best practices across RPSI sites. Stay current on emerging vision and inspection trends, including AI-based inspection and advanced sensing technologies. Support training and development of plant teams on vision and inspection technologies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Proven experience deploying and supporting industrial vision and inspection systems in manufacturing environments. Strong technical knowledge of machine vision, cameras, lighting, sensors, and image processing technologies. Understanding of integration with controls, OT, and digital platforms. Ability to coach and guide others with structured knowledge sharing. Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Passion for enabling smart manufacturing and quality excellence. Enthusiasm and ability to innovate and develop new scalable ideas and concepts. Willingness to travel frequently across RPSI sites in EMEA.
