Visiting Site Manager (Southern Region)

Location:

Headquartered in Tutbury, Staffordshire, with one day per week office working. Four days travel required across Enviromesh Southern region (England & Wales south of Tutbury, Staffordshire) for site visits and meetings.

The Role

The role acts as the link between site operations, the Construction Manager, the production team and the commercial department, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will visit multiple live construction sites each week, identify potential issues before they impact program or cost, and provide practical support to both customers and installation teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre-mobilisation site visits to assess access, site readiness and logistics.
  • Attend pre-order, pre-start and progress meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Visit multiple live construction sites each week to monitor progress and provide support.
  • Promote safe working practices and report Health & Safety concerns to the Construction Manager and Compliance Director.
  • Ensure Enviromesh installation guidance and approved construction methods are being followed.
  • Liaise with the production team to coordinate deliveries and respond to changes in program.
  • Advise the commercial department of any specialist plant, access requirements or non-standard construction activities required before mobilisation.
  • Produce concise site visit reports, through our online quality assurance application.
  • Monitor project progress and highlight risks that could affect program or cost.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, contractors and installation teams.
  • Escalate technical or commercial issues promptly to the appropriate department.
  • Capture lessons learned from completed projects to support continual improvement.
  • Assist with the development of installation guidance and toolbox talks where appropriate.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 5–10 years' experience within the UK earthworks, groundworks or civil engineering sector.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • IOSH – Managing Safely Qualification.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and site layouts.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Southern Region, including occasional overnight stays.

Desirable

  • Experience constructing retaining walls, reinforced soil structures or gabions.
  • CSCS Supervisor Card.
  • Experience working with Tier 1 contractors.
  • Knowledge of temporary works procedures.
