Protect Homes. Support Our Armed Forces. Build Your Career.
Are you someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and enjoys working independently while making a real difference? Do you have a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to property maintenance and a passion for delivering excellent service? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
At VIVO, we're looking for a motivated and organised Void Maintenance Officer to help safeguard and maintain Service Family Accommodation (SFA) while homes are unoccupied. This is a unique opportunity to play an important role in ensuring military families return to homes that are safe, secure and well maintained.
About The Role
As a Void Maintenance Officer, you will take ownership of a portfolio of vacant Service Family Accommodation within your allocated area. Working independently, you'll be responsible for ensuring properties remain secure, protected from deterioration and maintained to the highest possible standard throughout the void period.
Your role will involve carrying out detailed property inspections, completing condition surveys and producing photographic records at both the start and end of the void maintenance period. You'll identify defects, prepare initial scopes of work for repairs and highlight opportunities to improve the void maintenance process, helping to deliver greater value for money and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll regularly inspect properties to ensure they remain secure, wind and weatherproof, identifying any maintenance requirements before they become larger issues. You'll also manage heating and water systems to prevent damage during periods of vacancy, ensure statutory and mandatory inspections remain compliant and report any security concerns, vandalism or unauthorised occupation immediately.
Alongside your property responsibilities, you'll produce accurate weekly and monthly reports, manage utility information and work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and supply chain partners to ensure an efficient and professional service is delivered at all times.
About You
We're looking for someone who is self-motivated, organised and confident working independently while managing a varied workload. You’ll be comfortable working to performance targets and key performance indicators. You should have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
You'll be confident using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel, and comfortable working with tablets and mobile technology while out on site. A manual UK driving licence is essential, as travel across your designated area will form part of the role.
Experience in void property maintenance, repairs or working within a Ministry of Defence environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of statutory property compliance such as asbestos management, legionella, energy performance or related legislation. Relevant vocational qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 4, and evidence of continued professional development would also be welcomed.
