Void Surveyor
Interim Void Surveyor
We are recruiting for an Interim Void Surveyor for a leading Social Housing provider based in Wiltshire, supporting property services across the local region on a 4-6 week contract.
As an Interim Void Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering a range of surveying services across housing stock, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard, compliant with regulations, and fit for purpose. This is a great opportunity to join a busy, customer-focused organisation and make an immediate impact.
What's on Offer:
- Rate: £35 per hour
- Contract: 4-6 weeks
- Working pattern: 35 hours (flexibility for part-time 3 days a week)

- Take ownership of a caseload of void properties and progress them through to completion within tight timescales
- Survey void homes and identify required works (from minor repairs/compliance items through to kitchens/bathrooms/component replacements)
- Prioritise voids into quick wins vs larger programmes of work to maximise speed back to letting
- Scope works where not already defined and ensure appropriate instructions are issued to contractors
- Review and challenge contractor quotations using knowledge of schedule of rates/standard minute values
- Monitor contractor performance against programme; drive timely delivery and resolve delays/issues
- Carry out quality checks/inspections during and at completion of works
- Ensure statutory compliance-related works are completed as required before handover
- Handover completed properties back to the housing team ready for letting
The Successful Interim Void Surveyor Will Have:
- Proven experience as a Void Surveyor / Voids-focused building surveyor in social or affordable housing environments
- Strong ability to manage external contractors end-to-end (instruction, monitoring, quality control, completion/handover)
- Working knowledge of schedule of rates (SOR) principles and standard minute values; able to validate pricing/timeframes
- Able to work effectively in a small organisation with limited internal maintenance resource and evolving standards/specifications
- Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills across multiple properties at different stages
- Quality-focused with an eye for detail while maintaining pace to reduce rent loss
- Able to travel across Wiltshire (county-wide patch)
