HGV Class 2 Volumetric Concrete Driver / Yardman (Self-Employed/Transition to PAYE)
Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable HGV Class 2 volumetric concrete driver / Yardman (self-employed at present, with potential transition to PAYE for the right candidate) to operate our volumetric lorry safely, deliver concrete to various local locations, and support yard operations during downtime.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers in the construction sector who can help us expand our concrete presence. We are currently seeking a self-employed candidate, but for the right person, we are willing to transition to a PAYE arrangement as part of growth.
The role requires:
- A valid HGV Class 2 licence
- Relevant driving and construction experience
- Ability to load concrete (via telehandler) and deliver exceptional service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate the volumetric concrete lorry in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies.
- Deliver goods to designated locations in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness.
- Secure loads properly to prevent movement during transit.
- Wash out the auger after use and maintain the lorry in a clean and well-greased condition.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding schedules or issues.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols.
- Operate the loading telehandler and silo professionally.
- Monitor and manage stock levels of cement and aggregate, liaising with the office as needed.
- Keep the yard clean and tidy during downtime, and assist groundworks teams with stock collection/deliveries via fleet vans.
- Take on other multi-functional duties to support the company’s success.

Requirements
Essential:
- Valid **HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence`.
- Proven experience as a construction vehicle driver, particularly in the concrete sector.
- Knowledge of loading via telehandler.
- Clean driving record (no serious offences or convictions).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude.
Desired:
- Experience operating volumetric mixers, concrete pumps, or mobile cranes.
- Familiarity with yard operations and stock management.
- Experience in a fast-paced construction environment.
