NHSGGC Retire and Return
Employees considering retirement should notify their manager at least 6 months before their planned retirement date if they are interested in retire and return. They must also notify their manager if they wish to access phased retirement.
Please note you must have a minimum of a 24 hour break between your termination date and reemployment.
Application Requirements
Only those employees whose request was already approved, by their line manager and their department's general/senior manager, on the following categories must submit an application for contract via this portal:
- I am returning on a part-time or full-time basis to my current post.
- I am returning to another post within the same job family.

- returning to undertake shifts on the staff bank only, please contact the staff bank to obtain a contract for service: ggc.adminstaffbank@nhs.scot or ggc.medicalstaffbank@nhs.scot. If you are a current member of the NHSGGC staff bank, your bank contract will continue to be active.

- You must already contact SPPA for advice and assistance regarding your superannuation scheme membership: 01896 893000
- Please discuss any remaining annual leave or if you wish to access a phased retirement with your line manager
- A Staff engagement form must be downloaded, completed, and submitted via eESS on the HR portal.
