Volunteer - Activity Co-Ordinator - Newcastle Hospice Ward
We’re looking for friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinators to help bring a range of activities to our Marie Curie Hospice in Newcastle.
Activity sessions offer a warm, safe, and supportive space where people affected by terminal illness, along with their family members, can relax, chat, and enjoy meaningful activities together. As a volunteer, you’ll help spark moments of creativity, connection, and joy. Working alongside our clinical staff, you’ll play a key role in making each session welcoming, enjoyable, and uplifting. Your energy, kindness, and encouragement can make a real difference to everyone who takes part.
Availability: 2 hours (or more) weekdays or weekends
Time: 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm - what times are best to indicate here
Location: Marie Curie Hospice, Marie Curie Drive, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE4 6SS
Criteria: Minimum 18 years of age. A Criminal Record Check is required for this opportunity - Marie Curie will cover the cost of this.
What you’ll be doing:
- Create a warm, welcoming space for group activities
- Chat with patients, their family or visitors
- Plan and lead engaging sessions for our Activity Group
- Advocate for and promote the Activity Group within the hospice and local community
- Identify any equipment or materials needed and liaise with your volunteer manager
- Support with other related tasks as needed
