Marie Curie is looking for compassionate, everyday people to join our Community Companion Team to be part of something truly meaningful - offering emotional support to people in the final stages of life and their loved ones. Location: Brighton & Hove, Sussex Availability: 3 hours per week Time: Flexible to suit your schedule Criteria: Minimum 18 years of age
What you’ll do: Spend time each week visiting someone in their home and offering companionship Share a friendly chat, enjoy a cuppa together, or simply sit in peaceful company Listen to cherished memories, swap stories, or talk about everyday life Give carers or family members a short, well-deserved break Be a calm, reassuring presence when it matters most What you’ll gain: A deep sense of purpose and connection Full training, ongoing guidance and wellbeing support A friendly volunteer network Perks: Travel and expenses reimbursed Access to discount on shopping, dining, travel and more Why you’d be a great fit: Caring and compassionate nature Patient and a good listener Comfortable with sensitive topics such as death, dying and bereavement Comfortable using email and completing a short visit report Respect for confidentiality, boundaries and inclusive values Please note: A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application is required for this opportunity - Marie Curie will cover the cost of this.
