The Volunteer Forest Guardian role is an on-site position based at the Tree Rescue Hub in Sydenham Hill (SE21). Volunteers support day-to-day conservation activities such as participating in tree planting, habitat maintenance, invasive species removal, trail upkeep, and litter collection in forested and green spaces. They help monitor forest health by recording observations, reporting issues, and assisting with basic activities as part of the maintenance of our trees, plants, and land.

The role also includes the potential to join a volunteering team in Portugal during September and November (paid accommodation plus 100 GBP per week) supporting planting and clean-up events.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform outdoor physical tasks safely, including walking on uneven terrain, carrying light equipment, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Interest in forest conservation, environmental protection, and sustainability, with a willingness to learn basic ecological and stewardship practices.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate respectfully with diverse volunteers, staff, and community members.
- Dependable time management and personal responsibility, including punctuality, following instructions, and adhering to safety and environmental guidelines.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and readiness to handle practical tasks, problem-solving, and occasional changes in plans or priorities.
- Prior volunteer or community service experience in environmental or outdoor projects is beneficial but not required.
