Volunteer Finance Assistant
Finance Volunteer Role – Ongoing Support Needed
These finance volunteer opportunities are ideal for individuals with a background in finance who wish to stay active, utilise their skills, and make a meaningful contribution to a valued cause.
Commitment & Availability
We seek volunteers who can commit to at least one regular half-day session per week, with flexible time slots available:
- Session duration:
- AM: 9:00am – 12:00pm
- PM: 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Ideally, volunteers should commit to support for one full day per week, mirroring our weekly requirement of assisting across three days. Alternative schedules can be arranged to accommodate individual needs.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of a manager, volunteers will assist with the following key tasks:
- Purchase Ledger management
- Processing and inputting invoices
- Monitoring compliance on:
- Sage (accounting system)
- WAP (electronic invoice approval system)
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Project-level reconciliations
- Gift Aid processing

Required Skills & Qualifications
To qualify, candidates should meet one of the following criteria:
- AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualified
- Currently studying finance or holding a finance-related background
- Strong teamwork and collaborative spirit
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
- Proven reliability, attention to accuracy, and commitment to detail

Volunteer Expectations
To ensure a positive experience for all, we require volunteers to:
- Follow data protection guidelines and maintain confidentiality per Isabel Hospice’s policies.
- Exhibit a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Uphold the core values of Isabel Hospice.
- Identify clearly that you are a volunteer while fulfilling your duties.
Monday-to-Friday volunteering is by appointment only and subject to a one-month trial period.
Am I Eligible?
To join, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Live within a convenient commute of our site.
- Commit to volunteering for at least six months, contributing at least 3 hours per week.
