Volunteer Finance Team Co-Lead - Volunteer
You will review and manage the organization's financial health, establish formal accounting processes, lead on financial reporting, support year-end accounts, and guide junior finance volunteers whilst understanding in terms of culture we exist within a people centered environment.
What difference will you make?
As Finance Team Co-Lead, you will work alongside the founder/other relevant leads. Your role is critical in moving us from "survival" to "sustainability."
What are we looking for?
Experience Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance management (charity sector experience is highly desirable). Systems Pro Confidence in using cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel/Google Sheets. Structural Thinker Passionate about setting up order from scratch and improving procedures. Leader Gentle, encouraging leadership & educational style with the ability to guide junior volunteers and colleagues. Passionate Aligned with our mission to tackle loneliness, improve community cohesion, and support neurodiversity as well as people with seen and unseen disabilities (through our two community advocacy projects.)

What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
Systems Implementation Set up and manage new financial systems and processes (e.g. potentially cloud-based bookkeeping, expense management, project coding) to support our growth. Bookkeeping & Reporting Maintain with the support of junior finance volunteers and counterpart's accurate day-to-day records, reconcile bank statements, and prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts to track income and expenditure. Year-End Support Support the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with independent examiners/accountants for year-end compliance. Grant & Budgeting Support Work with project leads to build project budgets, monitor expenditure against restricted funding, and produce financial reports for funders and feeding into fundraising. Team Leadership Guide and mentor other junior finance volunteers, fostering a learning environment and building capacity. Financial Governance Ensure adherence to charity regulations and financial controls to ensure sound management of resources.
